Who Are Your Friends?

602) The Old Testament character of Job, whose story is filled with unbelievable events, is someone I admire. Yes, I am amazed at Job’s attitude toward the difficult things he faced and his conversations with God are great examples of faith.

There is one other thing that I specifically admire and that is, Job is able to communicate with his friends the things that are not helpful to him in his suffering. In essence, he advocates for himself.

Sometimes I feel that advocating for myself is selfish when the Bible tells me otherwise. Can I be selfish in my advocation? Yes, but there are plenty of ways to advocate which are not. One last thing; pick your friends carefully. Their presence in your life can make a positive difference and a negative one. Job 4-11
