Pick and Choose

2061) Growing up, we occasionally went out to supper, and I loved going to a cafeteria. Here, you would get your plates, go through the line and ask for whatever you wanted and the server would dish it up.

You could choose your meat, your veggies and even your dessert. It’s nice to pick and choose.

Because it’s nice, we may think we can do the same with God. We choose the times he’s loving, compassionate and forgiving and skip the places in the Bible which reveals he’s also just, authoritative and intolerant.

In Exodus 3:14, God tells Moses he is the “I AM” God. He is who he is and we can’t pick and choose what part of him we will commit to and which parts we won’t.

Just like those of us who are married, demanding to only accept our spouse in some parts of their being and not in others isn’t a healthy way to exist.

Picking and choosing in this manner may only be good at a restaurant.
