2055) There are things in life you know are coming, sooner or later. Death, for example.
We know they are coming, but when each day they don’t, we can think, even unconsciously, they will not materialize.
I see this illustrated in the Old Testament and even in the Gospels. God’s people knew and believed one day, the Messiah would appear: the One who will bring deliverance.
Because these promises were made hundreds, if not thousands of years ahead of time, it would be tempting to give up hoping and believing.
This made it difficult for some when the Messiah finally did appear. Doubt and confusion must have fought within peoples’ souls.
There is another event Jesus promises that, even after two thousand years plus, still hasn’t happened.
Matthew 24:40-44 tells us Jesus is coming again and, this time, as a judge. Even though each day comes and goes and he hasn’t returned, it’s easy to forget this promise.
Yet, God always keeps his promises and Jesus will come again.
It’s hard to believe when God promises something and it’s years before he fulfills it. This is the essence of faith. But he always fulfills his promises.
Are you ready?
