2043) I am fortunate I knew from a very young age I wanted to be a teacher, and I became one. That has been one purpose I have cultivated and used for God. (Some years more successfully than others in my mind.)
In considering purpose, 1 Peter 1:16 comes to mind. It says to be holy as I am holy. The Greek word for holy is hagios, which means to be set art for a special purpose. But my thinking today goes further.
I think I’ve assumed that my profession is “the” purpose I have, but that isn’t accurate. Sometimes my purpose was keeping the nursery during a church service; singing a song of praise with my chorus; being a supportive wife and so much more.
It’s important that we take what God brings our way seriously, as one of our purposes may be in saying one kind thing said to a stranger. This is holiness, because this is what God is like.
