Order Matters

2035) My novel, The Bottle House, centers around the shortest verse in the New Testament. Jesus wept. (John 11:35) But as I was looking at this passage this morning, I noticed something in verse 25. Here Jesus said, I am the resurrection and the life. Sound familiar?

What I saw that I had not considered is the order of the words Jesus used. He didn’t say he was the life and the resurrection. Instead, he said life happens after the resurrection.

I had not considered that even the most precious and beautiful moments I have in this life will be nothing compared to what’s coming after my spiritual resurrection.

Yes, I need to live my life now to do all I can from what God has given me, but it pales compared to the next life.   I look forward to it. Do you? Order matters.
