1927) There are so many things in life that are best described as dichotomies. For example, if emotional pain exists, so does love, or the hope of love. Another example is found in Mark 9:24. In this verse, we read the statement, “I believe; help my unbelief.”

When I was young and read this verse, I could not understand this statement, but as I grew older, I was and am astonished by how much this statement resonates within me.  

I do believe the words of God and yet, sometimes, I need more to help my faith grow. It is a simple statement that I do have faith in God and his plan for my life, but when I struggle, I need even more help.  

God knows our limited understanding and we should always be aware that we can be honest with him, asking for help in the faith department.

I do believe. Help my unbelief. A beautiful and honest prayer.
