1926) Luke 1:37 holds an attribute of God I have always accepted, sort of. Those two little words, “sort of” are important to note.
This verse tells us nothing is impossible with God. I can read this and nod my head. Yes, God can bring healing. Yes, God can create the world. Yes, God can provide something badly needed at just the right moment. These things I whole-heartedly agree.
The “sort of” I struggle with is believing God can do the impossible in “smaller” things. Is it impossible for God to speak to me so I can hear him? Is it impossible for God to love me when I feel totally unlovable? Is it impossible with God to give me peace in extremely unpeaceful situations?
In other words, do I take God at his word that he is the God of impossible concerning the day-to-day struggles?
Nothing is impossible with God. He is God of the large situations in life and he is the God over all the little ones, too. I need not believe, sort of.
