1907) It’s very interesting to me that the world my young scholars are growing up in is so melded to technology, and yet, they don’t know their way around their state-issued laptops. I have to spend large chunks of time working with them so they can become reasonably proficient in the academic use of these electronics.
One problem I continually deal with is when one of my students will try and print something to turn in, and when it doesn’t come out of the printer right away, they keep hitting print. By the time someone brings me their laptop, I see they have at least 5 print jobs waiting.
Because I’m always trying to teach my young scholars, I explain to them when something doesn’t come out of the printer, think of it as a clogged drain. I ask them if adding more water will help the clog? Rarely. It often makes it worse. So, I simply clear all the print jobs they have, work with the network and printer and usually, the problem is solved.
When I read Proverbs 17:14, I think of a sink full of water and my reaching down to unplug it. The verse tells us conflicts or arguments are like letting water out of a sink. The weight of the water is pulled down the pipe by gravity, assuming there are no clogs, and it drains quickly. Relationships, on whatever level they are, are put in danger when conflict and arguments are mixed in.
