Asking Brings Gratitude

1896) Sometimes we forget the Scriptures encourage us to ask God for things. There is no place in the Bible which tells us that asking is wrong.

My argumentative, sometimes pharisaical, brain would shut the door to this, automatically. My thinking is, you can’t ask God to give you a million dollars or to burn up someone who is continually a problem for you. Is this notion true? I don’t think so.

When God says to ask, he qualifies it in Matthew 7:11. This same part of my brain speaks up again. I knew there was a catch to this asking God thing. Again, I don’t think the catch is on our end.

What’s important here is not what we ask for; only that when we ask, we’re acknowledging that God will answer in whatever way is for our good.

The good news is, we can ask God for anything and even if we’re fairly certain what his answer is going to be, we can be grateful because we stand in the assurance that, however he answers, it will be in our best interest.

Ask for anything. We can be grateful for his answer.
