Seeking Approval

1884) We all want approval from others. Some of us are more focused on it, but this desire is universal.

For children, they want the approval of the adults in their world. A parent, grandparent or teacher. For teens, they also want the approval of some specific peer group. For adults, we may long for the approval of a spouse, boss, coworker, or friend.

Most of these desires are not bad, but Paul reminds us in Galatians 1:10 it is more important to seek the approval of God.

This seeking is not needed for salvation. After all, we can’t earn that. Instead, we acknowledge that when we make the choice to do the right things; it is pleasing to God.

Approval takes on a new light when examined in this context.
