1870) Sometimes it’s easy to assume our feelings are good or bad. If this were true, then we should be able to prevent them from existing within. What makes this issue sticky is how we act in response to these feelings.
Psalm 13 is a good example of the feelings of David versus his choices. In the first four verses, David is feeling many things. He feels like God has forgotten him. (vs. 1) He feels complete sorrow and defeat. (vs. 3) He feels ridiculed by his enemies. (vs. 4) All of these things are not choices, just feelings.
BUT, in verses 5-6, David makes the choice of trusting that God does love him, despite how he feels and because of this, he can also choose to praise God.
There is a difference between feelings and choices.
