When I Feel Like a Failure

1867) There are situations in my life that make me grieve more than others and that is when I feel like I’ve failed in a specific task or situation.

When I look at what I’ve failed at, I’m tempted to sit down, curl into a ball and sink into this tide of emotion. While I don’t think doing this in moments such as these is bad, when I stay curled up and stay down, that’s something to be concerned with. Why?

When I feel like a failure, it usually stops me in my tracks. I don’t look directly to the Lord and I’m rarely doing what he’s called me to do. This type of sinking emotionally can suck me in and make leaving it very difficult.

Philippians 3:13 can help lift anyone who feels like a failure. Paul tells me here that anything I’ve attempted to do on my own is going to fail and, though it’s not mentioned here, there are things I fail at that I wasn’t supposed to be doing anyway.

Failure is like quicksand. It can pull me down. Paul agrees. He said to forget what was behind me, and begin a new day in the confidence that God will give me strength and when I fail, I tell God about it, straighten my shoulders and move on.
