Lost Time

1853) Al Steward sings a song entitled, Time Passages and, being a wordsmith, I pay attention to the lyrics. These lines catch my attention:

Well, I’m not the kind to live in the past.
The years run too short and the days too fast.
The things you lean on are the things that don’t last.
Well, it’s just now and then my line gets cast into these time passages.

Not only do I find Steward’s words accurate for the way many live, it’s also a reminder that we experience time differently than God.

John 14:3 tells us Jesus is preparing a place in heaven for those who are God’s children but also that he will come again to take all his people there. These thoughts remind me of a time that can get lost.

The people in the Bible continually waited for the Messiah to come and when he finally did, many didn’t believe it. It seems the same when it comes to Jesus’ second coming.

We wait for what seems a lifetime, but this lost time isn’t really lost. God knows when the best time is for Jesus to come again.
