Daniel’s Prayer

1832) I had the privilege of attending Bible college for my undergraduate work. This included hours and hours of courses specifically about the content of the Bible, as well as education classes from a Christian perspective.

I remember a class I had, Old Testament Survey, which I thought, before the course began, I would ace because I already knew all the stories of the Old Testament. Yeah, right.

When we progressed to the book of Daniel, I saw a gem that I’ve held closely to my heart all these years. Daniel prayed these words in chapter 9, verse 18. It says in part, Give ear, our God and hear…We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy.

Daniel knew what his heart was like but he also knew of God’s great mercy. May you hold this truth to your heart, as well.
