Psalm 27:14 tells us to wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord. (ESV) This word for wait in the Hebrew is chay which means to be alive or living. Putting this together in this verse, David is telling us that living for the Lord will make you strong and courageous.
Waiting for the Lord means living for him.
