1814) Proverbs 3:27 has an interesting message. It says, Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it. (ESV) If you just glance at the verse without looking closer, it seems like a conditional command. Do good to those who deserve it; and you can skip those who don’t. But this is not what the verse says in the original Hebrew.
When you translate to whom it is due, it can be translated with the following in mind: business owners, husbands, wives, citizens, rulers, family members, confederates, and many more. In other words, don’t withhold doing good for anyone when it is in your power to do so.
There is so much that is bad in our world. What would it be like if everyone followed the command in Proverbs 3:27?
