Rock

1811) Where I live in coastal Maine, we have acres of blueberry barrens. The wild Maine blueberries flourish in our well-drained soil. There are some hindrances to their cultivation, however, and one of them is the number of rocks that more than pepper the area.

When driving by, you’ll see piles of rocks surrounding the barrens where owners have had rocks removed. Some of these boulders have to be left because they’re too big. I’ve seen some rocks larger than cars.

It is with this view in mind I approach Isaiah 26:4 with a better understanding. Here Isaiah tells us to trust God because he is the everlasting rock. He is solid. He cannot be moved. He is not going anywhere. Ten years later, he’s still there. Incredible.

The next time you see large rocks, remember the promise and blessing of Isaiah 26:4.
