Stretched

1765) When I was a kid, my brothers had a toy called Stretch Armstrong. It was a type of action figure you were supposed to be able to pull on the arms and they would stretch significantly. Unfortunately, they decided to each take an arm and pull in opposite directions and, of course, they stretched it beyond what it could bear.

In considering this word stretched, it is used in Psalm 27:14. It says, Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! The word for wait here is translated from the Hebrew and it originally meant to stretch.

Waiting on God’s timing can stretch us. This can result in developing endurance and faith. The good thing is, God knows how far to stretch us and will never allow us to be stretched beyond what we can bear, with his help.
