1717) In my writing career, I’ve had to hire many people. I’ve hired, book cover designers, editors, formatters (books have to have a specific format, like where paragraph headings need to go, etc.), promoters and website designers.
If you’re just starting out in a writing career (or any career), it’s hard to know who to hire for each of the things I listed. Some people I’ve hired have been spot on. Isabel Robalo, who lives in Portugal, designed the beautiful book covers for my 100 Minutes with God books. Others I have hired were not so great.
1 Kings 7:13-14 gives us a clue that can help us hire the best person or people, from book covers to roofers. It tells us here that King Solomon hired Huram because of his excellent work and experience. Huram had an excellent business reputation.
My take-away from these verses is it is my responsibility to inspect the past work and reputation of someone I hire. Why? Because whatever anyone creates for us, influences what we become known for.
Take the time to look closely before you hire. It’s a good rule to follow.
