Denial Can Be Fatal

1697) Whenever I hear or read of the word denial when associated with the Bible, I always think of Peter. Peter was the disciple who stated he’d never be disloyal to his Master and yet, as most of us know, he did. This is not the denial I think of today.

When I read Revelation 1:1 this morning, I almost missed a little nugget associated with denial. This verse tells us that in the “End Times” or the last days on earth before God ends it, John tells us God is showing us, through his word, the signs that this event is coming soon.

If you read through this fantastic book of the Bible, Revelation can be both intriguing but also frightening. The things revealed here that will happen reads a little like a science fiction book but it is not. If you look around our world now, you’ll see several things happening that this large bite of the scriptures predicts, and our actions and reactions are important.

When something of this magnitude is heading toward us, some people choose to deny it. No, this is not talking about today. We’re not this bad yet. God is a merciful God; he wouldn’t do this as it is literally described in John’s book. Any form of denial of these promises is not helpful.

It takes courage to not dismiss the promises about the end of life on this earth. It takes courage to look closer, within our hearts, and prepare for this last phase of the future. Denial can be fatal.
