How’s Your Vision?

1692) Because I have a full-time job teaching and a part-time one writing, sometimes both jobs demand multiple hours of attention and contribution. Though I love doing both, I can feel over-whelmed. Sometimes to ease the pressure, I’ll go somewhere, away from my computer screens.

When I’m away, I have sat with a cup of coffee and wished someone would come by and say, You look like you’re strung out. Tell me why because I care. Sometimes I have thought, what must I look like to others in moments like this?

The problem with wondering what I “look” like is that my appearance rarely gives an accurate picture of my thoughts and heart.

James 2:1-5 reminds us that solely looking at someone’s outward appearance is a poor way of determining what that person is like and feeling on the inside. Our vision is limited.

Because we cannot see the most important things about people, perhaps it would be a good thing to ask questions, listening to the answers people give and don’t give.

We can see more of others if we take the time to ask.
