1675) Have you ever had someone be nice to you when all they were after was something you could do for them? You could be someone who understands economics. You could be one who knows how to build decks. You might be someone who knows “influential” people. Whatever accomplishments you may have, there will often be people lurking in the wings, wanting something from you for nothing.
There were people in Bible days who did these same things with Jesus. For example, Mark 5:21-43 tells us there were crowds of people swarming Jesus, not necessarily because they put their trust in him. Jesus knew this so he would often go off alone. Jesus wanted fishers of men, not men who fished only for what they could get.
