1656) Have you ever noticed when taking part in small talk with a group of friends how one complaint can lead to another? From time to time, I will and when I’m noticing, I see the conversation lowering beneath the profitable side. These conversations are not helpful. Why? Because when we complain, we are stating our dissatisfaction with something without committing to help improve the subject of our complaints. Many of us also use complaining to vent, but again, this does not improve the situation.
Proverbs 20:3 tells us to stay away from strife. In Hebrew, the word for strife can be translated as complaining. This verse does not say to stay away from helpful conversation that feeds to a better outcome.
Next time you complain, perhaps it would be helpful to commit to something that will improve the situation instead.
