1649) Growing up, many of us were told we needed to be a good example to others and a few of us may have been, but not many. As adults, I hope we’ve discovered why it’s important to be a good example, but when it comes to kids, it can be tricky.
We don’t want children to act in a specific way just because they’re afraid of getting in trouble if they don’t. We also don’t want them to be motivated by the criticism they may receive if they don’t. It is good for the child to become aware in their own mind that being a good example is important, but the ultimate goal is for the child to grow up and have motivation in their heart and mind to be a good example. One such motivation is pleasing God.
We can be an example of being aware of the responsibility we have to model Christ-like behavior. 1 Peter 5:3
