Leave Her Be

1634) Recently I took my young scholars sledding and snowshoeing. This year was a little different, my 6th graders went with our preschoolers. How did that go? It went very well and many of my older kids looked after the younger ones.

During the events of the day, there was a little girl who went into a temper-tantrum. One of my 6th grade girls went right to her to comfort her, clearly missing the signs of stubborn behavior. I had to go to the older girl and say, “Just leave her be. We don’t want to encourage her in this behavior by giving her negative attention.” I’m not sure my older student understood, but she will.

Psalm 91:14 tells us God will rescue and protect the ones who love him. What is the tie into the 4-year-old’s behavior? When I read this verse, I think, Well, there have been plenty of times I believe God should have rescued or protected me but He did not.

Could it be that God rescued and protected me by allowing me to go through these times? Not necessarily because I was having a tantrum, but because God knew this would give me tools I could use for him and myself.

Sometimes God looks at us and says, “Leave her be.”
