Silent Battles

1631) I’m currently working on the second book of the Boone Tails children’s picture book series. It’s a story about a little dachshund who wakes up in Bible times and, unlike the first book, Sweet Dreams, Boone, the second one finds Boone in Old Testament times.

As Boone learns the importance of following God’s guidance while walking with Joshua around Jericho, he discovers that during some battles God gives us, he wants us to be silent. This silence shouldn’t be confused with inaction. Instead, it appears to be a quiet contemplation of where God is leading us and actively choosing to follow.

Exodus 14:14 sums it all up: “The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” Some battle should be fought in silence.
