1600) As I read Proverbs 20:6, two men come to mind. Let’s look at the verse first. It says (ESV) Many a man proclaims his own steadfast love, but a faithful man who can find?
The first man who comes to mind is marketing specialist, Seth Godin. The circle of my writing career overlaps Seth’s. He states the reason many people succeed in their “product” (in my case, writing) is because they are willing to push through “the dip.” This is the point of stepping out to use the gifts and talents we have and hitting the dip; that point when it’s not fun anymore and the discovery that to go beyond it will be difficult.
The second man who comes to mind is Bishop T.D. Jakes. This man of God has the gift of speaking to the church in a simple and applicable manner. If you’ve never listened to him speak, you’re missing out. He is the man who said in one of his sermons, “If it’s easy, it won’t last.” Anyone can do the easy and the easy then becomes hard because just seeing something through gets difficult.
I write with this subject in mind because I noticed this is “minute” number 1,600 I have written. Wow! 1,600. This started out easy, but now, it’s complicated. Each minute takes me between 30-45 minutes to write, rewrite, edit, reedit, finding a picture and scheduling them on 4 platforms (and having to post each morning on my personal Facebook page because I cannot schedule that one). Finding time to write these so others may benefit from the ministry God has given me is difficult.
In just this one area of my writing, I’ve had to push through the “Dip”; the place when faithfulness becomes difficult. Doing the “easy” day after day is no longer easy, but it is so worth it. God has even graciously allowed my readers to reach out to me and tell me how God is using these words.
Faithfulness in what God has called you to do may seem easy at first but dare to push through the dip and keep doing the tasks God has called you to do.
