Within Your Power

1587) There are so many things in this life that are out of our control. We cannot control the weather, the price of gasoline, disease, and the actions of others. If we focus on all the things we cannot do, we can miss out on those in which we can.

Proverbs 3:27 tells us to not withhold good to whom it is due. The interesting thing to me is what the word good means in Hebrew. This word, טוֹב towb means pleasant to the senses, in our nature, good in actions, and value in estimation, to name a few. In other words, we should be actively looking for opportunities to be good to others.

In the decades I have walked this earth, I’ve noticed that we often receive back from others what we give them. If we show our road rage, we’ll see rage in return. But, if we show compassion, it melts the heart of the recipient, and compassion abounds.

There is a lot that is out of our control, but our focus should be on what is.
