Special Among Specials

1555) I used to think something can only be special if nothing else around it was. After all, the essence of the word special means better or greater, so my thinking that nothing is special if everything is special makes sense.

Matthew 18:12-14 helps shed some light on my struggle. Here, Jesus tells his disciples that all people are special. He fleshed this thought out by describing when a shepherd sees one of his sheep missing, he will leave the ninety-nine to find the one.

My takeaway is this. If God considers all his children to be special, then I am just as important to him as David, Moses and Elijah were. I don’t need to be the most special. God places me among the greatest people of faith. This knowledge alone is a game changer.

If you struggle with your worth, remember you are special to God among others who just as special.
