1552) My husband bravely watches the news every evening, and I say bravely because there is so much angst among many and to me it gets tiring. One of the news shows my husband watches is The Five on Fox News. I’m usually doing other things while it’s on, but I’m aware of its basic structure. Usually there are 4 conservatives around the table and one who holds opposing views (usually). I pay little attention unless a former U.S. Congressman, Harold Ford Jr. is the 5th member of the panel.
I have a lot of respect for Mr. Ford. Though many of his thoughts and views are different than mine, he is gracious, respectful, and sensible. He always thanks the panel for inviting him and those other 4 at the table have a visible respect for him. Why do I write about this? Because Mr. Ford is an example of Proverbs 16:7.
This verse says (in my own words) those who work at pleasing God will be at peace even with their enemies. No, I do not think Mr. Ford believes the other members on The Five are enemies but if you watch this news show, whenever any other nonconservative sits in the 5th seat, the other 4 do not show the same respect as they do with Mr. Ford.
Mr. Ford’s example of graciousness is worth emulating.
