1511) I must confess there is one thing that bugs me more about others than anything else and that is when an adult is not on time. When I taught high school, I would take teens camping over a weekend twice a year. (I know, I can’t imagine doing that now.) We would get back to the school around 1:00pm and I had informed the parents of this. There would always be one kid whose parents would not show up until 2:00pm or later and would not answer their phones, so we’d wait and wait and wait.
Time is an interesting subject because it refers to many things. There’s the clock time. There’s just in time. There’s the time or period of history, etc.
Have you ever wondered why you were born in the period of time you were? I have. I’ve thought about what it would have been like to be alive during the early settlement of our country. I’ve also wondered how hard it would have been to be an Israelite slave in Egypt. You get the point.
These thoughts have led me to wonder why God chose to allow me to live in the era I am. The book of Esther answers this. Here, an Israelite woman is chosen to be a member of King Ahasuerus’ haram. Through deception and resentment, a man named Haman set into works a decree that all the Israelites were to be destroyed. It is at this moment, Mordecai tells Esther (chapter 4:14) God placed her within this time period, so she could be a member of the King’s harem to help save God’s people.
There’s no mistake that you are here at this point of history. Let’s not make a mistake ourselves by not being available for God to use now.
