1498) The word peace is a common word. I just want a little peace. It’s so peaceful outside. How about some peace and quiet? We’ve all heard these things, but there is another one that comes to mind and that is May he rest in peace.
It’s unfortunate that some people will never live with peace in this life. Is it possible to have it? If what you mean by peace is solely an emotion and the body is calm, perhaps, but this isn’t what Paul meant when he wrote Philippians 4:6-7.
In these verses, Paul tells us not to worry about the things of our lives but to pray about them instead. He says in doing this; we are making the choice to leave whatever is concerning us in God’s hands and then, we will experience peace.
But how is it possible to refuse to worry because it’s in God’s hands? The way I know if I can trust someone and don’t need to worry about specific things people have committed to do is in remembering that they have always kept their word and commitment in the past. History lends credibility.
If we take the time to examine our lives and see all that God has done for us and how he kept his word, it will make it easier to choose trust in him in the midst of difficulties. But, examining our lives when there is no crisis will help us develop trust in God better than doing it when we are caught up in a storm of life.
Are you resting in peace?
