What God Sees

1483) At some point, in all our lives, despair comes knocking on our door and sometimes, because we don’t have the energy needed, we can make no effort to keep it from coming in. When despair sets up housekeeping within, our bodies ache and moan. Our stomachs fill with bile and food and everyday comforts do not help. As the pain grows, tears can burst out because of all the pressure and people can read all kinds of things into it and are often unhelpful.

I was thinking about these things as I read 1 Samuel 16:7 and stumbled upon a unique connection with God; one I had never thought of. This verse tells us (paraphrased a bit) that Man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart.

I know we cannot see, judge nor conclude much by looking at what we see about others, but what I connected with this verse today is, God does see my heart. He does see my despair. He does see the bile. He does see everything that people cannot. I don’t think this seeing is in judgment; I think this seeing moves the compassion of God.

If despair is taking root within you right now, be comforted because God sees you. God. Sees. If you’re not in a season of despair right now, store this gem for when you may need to mine for it in the future.

God sees.
