1478) Have you ever gone through a period of depression? A time when your soul is living in a dark place and very little interests or uplifts you? David gives us an antidote for these seasons in our lives. It’s found in Psalm 103:2.
David tells us never to forget the good things God has done for us. Set some time aside and think back through your life and list the things God has done for you and thank him for them. You may start off quickly listing things and then you slow down but don’t stop. Go deeper. List the obvious, but then consider the difficult times in your life when God taught you many things.
I have found when I’ve done this listing, my outlook on my life gets brighter and, as a bonus, I can remind myself that God commands us to give thanks in all things. (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
Some depression needs medical treatment, but sometimes just being thankful is a real boost.
