1475) As a writer, clichés can make me cringe. Not that I have anything against them, it’s just that people use them so much, their meaning or point is of lesser power in their familiarity. Once such cliché for me is When God closes one door, another will open. Do I believe this? Of course, but sometimes people throw these types of sayings out so quickly that the person who is going through a tough time may not feel comforted or heard.

I think of the door closed/door open saying when I read Revelation 4, specifically verses 1-6, but not as a cliché. Here, John literally sees a door open into heaven. He then sees God sitting on his throne. Can you imagine what it must have been like for John to see this? Better question (at least to me), can you imagine what it’s going to be like for those of us whose names are in the Book of Life to see this?

Despite all the hurt, pain, disease, death, betrayal, damage, and illness, God is still sitting on his throne, in control of all of life as we know it. Within this control, however, God allows man the freedom of choice and this is where I have to trust, by faith, that God is balancing what he allows (in our freedom of choice) and when he says, Enough!   

When that time comes, are you going to see this door open in heaven and God sitting on his throne? You can. Recognize you are a sinner and that you deserve spiritual death, but you ask God to forgive you and accept Jesus’ death in your place, living by his standards from now on out of gratitude. It’s all about a relationship with God. This is when you will enter this eternal glory.
