1466) The weather around the world has taken a front seat in many news outlets. Why? We see extreme heat, cold, flooding and drought. There is the fear of global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and typhoons. Many of these are predicted as things that will be prevalent in the last days, but whether or not this is that period of time, it sometimes seems things are out of control. The word “seems “is a key word.
Psalm 114 tells us of many things in nature that may have seemed out of control to someone who does not know the ways of God. The Red Sea and Jordan River parting. Mountains and hills skipping about. Pools of water flowing from a rock. These are listed in this Psalm, but there are other places in the Bible that speak of our environment acting in unusual ways. Noah’s flood, darkness during the crucifixion, famine during Elijah’s and Joseph’s day and more.
When things around us seem crazy and out of whack, it’s good to remind ourselves God has all of nature under his control. Nothing happens without his permission.
