1449) Recently, I was speaking with someone, well; I need to correct that. The other person was speaking, and I was listening. This person spent the whole time only talking about themselves, dominating the entire conversation. Though in this case, the conversation was one-sided, it’s so easy to make everything about us, isn’t it?
We are more focused on our own lives. This “nearsightedness” taints reality. We rely on our own thoughts and actions and this is one reason many religions teach the “steps” you must go through to earn entrance into heaven (or their equivalent).
Colossians 2:8 reminds us we cannot be the center of salvation. We cannot do it, earn it, sing it, buy it, overthink it, chant it, good deeds it and more. It’s not about us, it’s about Christ and his death on the cross for us. He offers this gift to you if you will take it and those of us who have, we need to remind ourselves it’s not about us.
