1433) Like most people, there have been times in my life when the pain and suffering in my heart has knocked me flat on my back. I go to sleep crying and wake up with tears. Suffering is a pain that is not easily dealt with, but Psalm 119:50 gives us a treatment plan.
We can easily dismiss the longest chapter in the book of Psalms because it takes more time to read through, but if we ignore it, we would miss the power in verse 50. This verse tells us there is comfort for our suffering by focusing on God’s promises.
These promises include: I am with you to strengthen, help and uphold you. Isaiah 41:10. Those who trust in God receive his peace. Isaiah 26:3. I will never leave nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:8. I will instruct and teach you the way you should go. I will keep my loving eye on you. Psalm 32:8. Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28.
If you are in a season of suffering, focus on God’s promises. They will bring you comfort.
