1422) I miss my grandparents. When they were alive and I’d pick up the phone to call them, my grandfather always said so tenderly, Hey honey! I could hear the excitement in his voice and in my grandmother’s. I always felt welcomed by them, with no exception.
This sense of welcome is what Paul describes in Romans 15:7. When he tells us to accept each other, this word accept means to welcome and why should we do this? Because Christ has welcomed and accepted us.
Welcoming others is to choose to put aside what we may be doing in the moment so we can focus on them. We can make this choice because God has given us this same gift. If we choose to welcome others genuinely into our lives, even if it’s for a moment, what would this mean to others and to our society? I think it can change the world.
