1330) Several weeks ago, I took my students ice skating. Prior to this trip, I think I had been on ice skates 2 other times and they are 35 years or more in the past. We had a blast, and the kids were thrilled that I got out on the ice with them. I found something later that was not so thrilling. Because my legs and feet weren’t used to wearing ice skates that are tight around the ankles (as they should be), the skate rubbed against my skin and I had a raw patch there which has taken weeks to heal. Had I skated regularly, my skin would have built up a callus, protecting me from further harm.
As I look back on my life along with Paul in Titus 3:3, we should see evidence of obedience to God’s guidelines rather than disobedience. The problem is that our souls can create calluses, so when we look at opportunities to make the right choices, we’re not “bothered” by the plan to do what we know to be wrong.
Calluses have a place in life, but it depends on where they are.
