1292) When I taught high school, unfortunately, I was a witness to several fights between teens. I won’t go into details here because I hate when people glorify violence, but I know in trying to separate the two fighting individuals, they could hurt me in doing so.
In 2 Timothy 2:22, Paul tells us to pursue or hunt for a pure heart. The word for pure here can be translated as a heart that is separated from impurities. If you are going to separate yourselves from those relationships, words, thought patterns, and other impure things, make a choice to step away. This is not always easy, as things that are far from holy can saturate the world.
In hunting a pure heart, we are not stating that we think we’re better than others. Instead, we are showing a better way to live in this world.
A pure heart is valuable and worth the hunt.
