Cause & Effect: Death

1282) My husband talks about death regularly. He doesn’t do this because he’s morbid, but he knows unless the Lord returns, we will all die and he’s acknowledging this. For me, death scares me. It isn’t because I don’t know that I will be with the Lord, it’s because the next life isn’t fully “known” to me. It’s a fear of the unknown, beyond what the Bible tells me it’s like. I often have to tap into my faith and not my feelings when I consider the next world.

As I read 2 Timothy 2:11-13, I am reminded that if we are one of God’s children, we have already died. What? Yes! We have died in our sinful lives and are raised again, spiritually because of Jesus’ death, redemption and resurrection.

This “dying” is truly a cause and effect. If I don’t die with Christ, I cannot experience life with him in this world or the next.

My challenge to you is, if you have not experienced a death to your sinful self, you cannot experience life with God. There is no other way.

Ask God to give you spiritual life, because your sin has been paid for. Our “death” brings us “life”.
