1279) Many years ago, when we lived in North Carolina, we had a significant ice storm and we were without power for a week. Our house had no insulation in the walls and our only source of heat was a fireplace, That week the temperatures were in the single digits and we experienced being so cold, our thinking clouded and had some friends from church not checked on us, and then invited us into their home, I’m not sure how our health would have fared.
When our houses are without power, our lives can suffer and thinking along this line, I realize that if we are without spiritual power, our lives suffer, too.
In 2 Timothy 2:1, Paul tells us we need to be strong in the grace of Jesus. The Greek word for strong can be translated as empowered. We can keep walking in our faith because we have the power to do it. What is the specific fuel for this power? Grace.
Grace is God reaching down to us continually. He helps us, wants to speak with us, he nourishes us and saves us.
If we can wholly embrace this, we would be empowered to do so much more for God.
