1263) There is a learned behavior some people use that is very destructive; the action I’m referring to is leveling. This is when someone focuses on the behaviors of others and because this person thinks so poorly of themselves, they seek to bring down others so they will be on his or her level. A person may not even be aware they’re doing this, but the damage it causes can be great.
What’s even more worrisome is it may not be enough for some people to solely bring others down to his or her level, some also try and get others to level the same person too. This is often accomplished by gossip and it can destroy lives.
Paul warns in 2 Thessalonians 3:11 that those who seek to level others would be better served by staying busy, doing the work of the Lord. For example, if someone spends a good bit of time looking for ways to encourage others, they won’t have time to bring others down.
God wants us to be busy for him, not busybodies.
