1226) Have you ever noticed there are warning labels everywhere? Duh! That was a dumb question; how could anyone not notice them? Have you ever stopped to read any of these? There are many that are funny. For example, once I picked up some medication for my dog at the regular pharmacy and when I looked at the pill bottle it said, Warning. Do not operate a car while taking this medication. Well, I had to make sure my little dachshund was grounded from driving until all his meds were taken.
Warnings can be funny but often aren’t because the nature of a warning is to keep someone else safe. Their purpose is not to “lord” it over someone else, making it seem like we don’t have this problem either.
Paul tells us in Colossians 3:16 that we should admonish or warn others of bad behaviors, choices or attitudes with wisdom and I have often found I can do so because I have done that thing (whatever it was) the wrong way and learned from it.
Warning others of spiritual things shouldn’t be because we think we’re better than others; it should be because we have love and compassion for them. We want to help others avoid something that is harmful on multiple levels.
Do you wear a warning label and is it a helpful one?
