1216) When the seasons change in Maine, I spend a morning moving my clothes from one season and replacing those for the upcoming one. Winter and summer here are dominant seasons (though those of you in warmer climates won’t think our summers are “real” ones). The fall and spring seasons often just meld into them. Regardless, having the right clothes on helps our bodies tolerate the climate, but have you ever considered that there are other types of clothes?
Paul tells us in Colossians 3:12-14. to clothe ourselves with compassion. When we put on this garment, it allows us to be less judgmental of others’ choices (which should not be confused with acceptance of these choices). When we figuratively put on other people’s shoes, we see life through their eyes.
Putting on the clothing of compassion is also a gift we can give others and remember, it’s always more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35). By wearing compassion, you will receive a blessing as well.
Put on compassion.
