1211) Many years ago, at the high school where I taught, I heard of a mistake that had many consequences in the days and weeks to come. Evidently, someone was supposed to put fertilizer on the football field (or some such thing) and, instead, they put Roundup on it. As you can guess, Roundup got into the root system of the grass and killed everything, making the field unfit for the football season.
Roots matter. If a plant’s roots are strong and in proper soil, the plant will flourish, but if there’s just one thing off about where the roots are, it can kill the plant.
Paul tells us in Colossians 2:6-7 that we need to be rooted in Christ. If we have his teaching and presence in our lives, our roots will thrive, therefore the fruit we bear for him will too.
It makes a difference what we are rooted in. Perhaps we need to check and make sure there is no Roundup threatening our roots.
