1197) I have read of people scuba diving where old ships are resting on the ocean floor. I’m assuming there is a lot that is interesting to discover.
I also know there are laws governing certain areas of the ocean, prohibiting people from removing anything they find in specific ships. This law may be hard to keep by some.
There are people who are constantly out to get themselves the better deal. Is there anything wrong with this? Not necessarily, but when it crosses the line of greed, that’s where the problem lies.
Jesus knew the desire to accumulate masses of fortune is dangerous. This desire can be as simple as hording things so others cannot benefit from them. It can also mean a person is gripped by the desire of things and then bitterness fills them when they cannot get what they want.
Jesus reminds us that our hearts or priorities reflect what we treasure.
