Give What You Receive

1178) Many are quick to say you shouldn’t judge anyone else. This is a blanket statement that often means you must accept anything someone else does. Though judgment is defined as being critical (in a sense of consideration) of others’ actions and choices, it is not compatible with the acceptance of all behaviors. There should be no room for this attitude in God’s children.

Instead, we are called to compassion, meaning to suffer with others. This act is not something you can do while judging.

Compassion gives us the tenderness to place ourselves on the same seat as someone else who is suffering. We don’t think we’re above them and, if we place ourselves below them (I feel even worse than you), it becomes judgment again.

.

Though the act of compassion (and, yes, it is a verb) is scarce these days, God embodies it. His love and compassion for us and others are new every morning.

It is a choice to see with God’s eyes rather than our judgmental ones. We should give to others what we receive from God.  Lamentations 3:22-23
