Mind Fitness

1161) Physical fitness is a multi-billion dollar industry. Think of all the clothing, shoes, watches, equipment, gyms, protein and energy bars and even apps that regulate your activities and calorie burning. Many of these are good things, but what I wish I saw more of are things that will help me improve my thoughts.

When I am tired after being in a noisy classroom all day, I have little energy to discipline my thoughts. While I am still, they run wild. It takes energy to put a halt to my thoughts, especially negative ones.

Just as our muscles improve with exercise, so can our self-control when it comes to our thoughts. We need to work on it each day. Why? Because Isaiah tells us perfect peace can be ours as long as our minds are steadfast (supported) on and by God.

Our thoughts often determine what kind of day we will have. Wouldn’t it be prudent to exercise our minds regularly?  Isaiah 26:3
